Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, June 9, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a CCTV Surveillance System with Integrated Command and Control Centre at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, enhancing the safety and security of pilgrims. The ₹20-crore facility uses advanced technology for real-time monitoring, crowd management, and emergency response, ensuring a seamless pilgrimage experience.
The Integrated Command and Control Centre was developed following recommendations from security forces, including the Jammu & Kashmir Police, Indian Army, and CRPF, after a thorough review of the Vaishno Devi Yatra route. “This initiative ensures the safety and convenience of devotees,” said Sinha during the inauguration. “The CCTV surveillance system and command center will enable real-time oversight, efficient crowd control, and quick emergency response.”
Equipped with high-resolution cameras along the Yatra route and a centralized control hub in Katra, the system supports continuous monitoring, risk detection, and coordinated responses. It aims to enhance pilgrim safety, streamline crowd flow, and improve management of the shrine, a major spiritual destination attracting millions annually.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, located in the Trikuta Hills, benefits from this technological upgrade, setting a standard for other religious sites in India. Officials from the Shrine Board and security agencies attended the inauguration, highlighting the collaborative effort.
