SRINAGAR, May 6, 2025 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction work at the Office and Yatri Niwas of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board at Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, emphasis ing timely completion to enhance pilgrim facilities for the Amarnath Yatra 2025. The visit underscores the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure for the annual pilgrimage, set to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9.
During the inspection, Sinha reviewed the project’s progress, noting that= that four of the six planned floors have been completed, with the remaining two expected to be finished by June 2025. He directed officials to accelerate construction to ensure the facility is ready for pilgrims, addressing long-standing demands for better accommodations. The Yatri Niwas, designed to house over 3,000 devotees, aims to provide modern amenities and serve as an information hub for the Yatra. Accompanying LG Manoj Sinha were Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary and CEO of SASB, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar.
The Pantha Chowk facility, initiated in 2021, is part of a broader plan to expand Yatri Niwas infrastructure across J&K, including in Jammu and Chanderkote. Sinha’s oversight ensures alignment with the Yatra’s spiritual and economic significance, aiming to accommodate over 10 lakh pilgrims annually, boosting J&K’s economy.
