JKEDI concludes second batch of management development programs under RAMP scheme

SRINAGAR, April 29, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has successfully concluded its second batch of Management Development Programs under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performancescheme, a transformative initiative by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). This achievement reinforces JKEDI’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and bolstering the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sector in Jammu and Kashmir, driving economic empowerment and innovation.

The MDPs, rolled out across districts such as Srinagar, Samba, Budgam, Doda, and Jammu, trained over 300 MSME owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in week-long sessions. These programs focused on equipping participants with essential skills in business management, financial literacy, digital marketing, and leveraging government schemes for growth. Tailored to address local challenges, the training emphasized practical strategies to enhance competitiveness and sustainability in the MSME ecosystem.

In Srinagar, a 6-day MDP empowered participants with tools for business expansion, while Samba and Budgam sessions provided 30 hours of immersive learning. In Doda, 20 participants completed the program, gaining insights into market access and innovation. Jammu’s MDP, launched by Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, combined classroom training with industrial exposure, inspiring participants to scale their ventures.

The RAMP scheme, overseen by the J&K Industries and Commerce Department with the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation as the nodal agency, aims to formalise MSMEs through Udyam Registration, promote digital financing, and support initiatives like Geographical Indication tagging and One District One Product . JKEDI’s district-level efforts, including upcoming MSME Health Clinics and buyer-seller meets, further strengthen the region’s entrepreneurial landscape.

“Through these MDPs, we’re building a vibrant MSME ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs, especially in remote areas, to thrive in a competitive market,” said JKEDI Director Khalid Jahangir. “The RAMP scheme is a game-changer for J&K’s economic growth.”

Conducted by JKEDI’s district centers, the programs featured expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, and mentorship from industry professionals. Participants learned to harness digital tools, access financial resources, and develop sustainable business models, positioning them to transform ideas into successful enterprises.

With plans to extend MDPs to five more districts, JKEDI continues to champion entrepreneurship, innovation, and resilience, paving the way for a stronger, more inclusive MSME sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
