Srinagar, April 22, 2025 – The Islamic Relief and Research Trust Kashmir organised a one-day multi-faith conference in Srinagar, bringing together religious leaders, scholars, and community members to promote interfaith harmony, peace, and mutual respect. Held at a central venue, the event emphasised dialogue and unity in a region renowned for its cultural and religious diversity.
The conference, hosted by IRRT Kashmir, fostered understanding among faiths, including Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Christianity. Participants engaged in panel discussions, keynote speeches, and interactive sessions centered on interfaith collaboration.
The event opened with an address by an IRRT Kashmir representative, stressing collective efforts to promote compassion. Religious leaders highlighted shared values of peace and humanity, while a youth-focused session encouraged young attendees to advocate tolerance. Cultural performances showcased Kashmir’s syncretic traditions, reinforcing its legacy of coexistence.
Inspired by Kashmir’s Sufi heritage, the conference resonated with themes from the recent “Noor-e-Sama” Sufi Conference, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha described Sufism as a force for peace. Discussions addressed challenges to interfaith harmony, proposing inclusive solutions.
Hailed as a step toward stronger communal bonds in Jammu and Kashmir, the event left attendees hopeful for future initiatives. One participant noted, “This conference reminds us that our shared humanity transcends religious boundaries.” IRRT Kashmir committed to furthering peace through education and dialogue.
The conference aligns with global efforts like the World Religions Conference’s focus on religion and peace, positioning Srinagar as a hub for meaningful discourse, alongside events like the upcoming IAPSMCON 2025 on integrative healthcare.
