My Brother Took the Bullet Meant for Me”: Kashmiri Youth Shares Painful Tale Some guy called out Shadib Bhai come out and fired. Shadib was 26 years old at that time. They killed innocent people. I request you with folded hands, think about your parents. We do not do any jihad here. This is a war for land. You are being misused. When I walk on the road I see my brother’s shadow. I went into depression. Allah will not spare those who destroyed our homes, their homes will also be destroyed. Even if Allah does not destroy their houses, it should come to their mind that what willt they get by killing someone’s child. The deceased’s mother in Srinagar said that the young do not feel it that much because they are with wife and child. The parents feel very bad. According to me, if you want to kill someone’s child then kill their parents first. Because parents can’t live without their children. We miss Nadib very much, said the slain boy’s mother. We were two brothers. His name was Nadib Hanif Khan. At home my mother and father are there. My mother is a cancer patient for 8 years. My brother who died at the hands of terrorists was younger but he used to run the whole house. He would even comb his mother’s hair because we had no sister. Our house was targetted by the terrorists being an Indian nationality. Here no one was ready to pick up the Indian flag in our locality. Since we had no affiliations with any militants and our family has always been pro-Indian I picked up the Indian flag. People used to call me as a Raw agent or RSS or BJP agent. I tried to change the mentality of the stone-pelting boys that Pakistan is taking revenge with us for three lost battles. Pakistan is brainwashing young ones to pick up stones. Even the political parties here had agents. When PM Modi said whoever comes just fire at them then the agents disappeared. From then no civilian killings haopened, said the slain young man’s elder brother. My younger brother Nadib who was killed had given me Rs 300 for petrol. When I had gone to fill petrol at that time three terrorists came and shouted my name Shadib come out. Nadib came out to see and they shot him dead. Within 5 minutes my mother called to say that some bad people had come and shouted your name Sahdib and gunned down Nadib. He had done I Phone programming. It was my brother’s Chautha but I ran away to Delhi because there was no security. The enemy would have searched for me because I did not die and I stayed in Delhi for four years. I stayed with my uncle in Saket and I got married there. In 2014 I came back but since then there have been two attacks on our house. The security camera was destroyed. Tehsildar saheb came to our house but my father said have tea and leave because we do not want compensation money. My son was martyred for the country. Only those parents know this feeling whose young son goes to the grave, he was my beloved brother, Shadib said. The faith of one who is not loyal to his country is of no use. My message to the youth is build your own home, stay with your family, don’t get into wrong things, don’t get into drugs or militancy. Take care of your future. The illegal activities going on in Kashmir have stopped. That is why people feel that there is no work. The whole of Kashmir knows, the whole of India knows how much development has taken place here. Now I don’t know why their heart is not accepting that Modi Ji is good for us. The Modi government is very good for me. Look at how tourism has grown from 10-20 thousand per year to lakhs of people. The removal of Article 370 has made this possible. Now big industries are being set up and the local youths will get employment. Youth will not remain idle. The yputh will not be drawn towards deugs. The youth will prefer to work in home state/ UT as MNCs are coming up here, said pro Indian Shadib bhai who liuckily escaped the bullet of the terrorist but sadly his younger brother Nadib got slain.
