JAMMU, April 16, 2025 – The registration for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 began with over 4,200 pilgrims registered by J&K Bank on the first day, April 15, 2025. The process, which started on April 14, is facilitated through 91 J&K Bank branches and over 540 authorized bank branches across India on a first-come, first-served basis.
The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine, situated at 3,880 meters in South Kashmir’s Himalayas, is set for July 3 to August 9, 2025, ending on Raksha Bandhan. Devotees can access the shrine via the 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag or the steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal.
J&K Bank has ensured a smooth registration process with helpdesks, dedicated counters, and trained staff. MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee noted the strong response, saying, “Over 4,200 registrations in one day showcase the trust in our commitment to this sacred journey.”
Pilgrims aged 13 to 70 must submit a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from authorized medical professionals, as mandated by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). The CHC format and authorized doctors’ list are available on jksasb.nic.in. A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card is also mandatory for safety and tracking.
The SASB has enhanced facilities, increasing lodgement capacity in Jammu, Srinagar, and other areas. Yatri facilitation centers for e-KYC, RFID issuance, and on-spot registration are operational at locations like Nowgam and Katra Railway Stations, ensuring a seamless experience.
The Yatra, a revered Hindu pilgrimage, attracts thousands to worship the ice Shiva Lingam, symbolizing Lord Shiva. In 2024, it saw a record 5.12 lakh pilgrims, the highest in over a decade. Registration is available online via the SASB website or offline at authorized branches and centers like Vaishnavi Dham and Mahajan Hall. Group registration is offered for groups of five or more, with Yatra Permits issued post-registration and token slips distributed three days prior at select locations.
Security remains a focus, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently reviewing arrangements. The Indian Army’s 15 Corps, CRPF, and J&K Police will deploy multi-tier security to ensure safety amid recent regional challenges.
The 2025 Amarnath Yatra promises a safe and spiritually enriching experience, supported by J&K Bank and SASB’s robust arrangements. Visit jksasb.nic.in for details.
