Jammu I March 20, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has issued a stern directive mandating all affiliated schools, including private institutions, to strictly adhere to its prescribed uniform curriculum and textbooks. This enforcement, backed by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, aims to ensure standardized education across the Union Territory, aligning with the National Curriculum Frameworks.
In a notification dated December 22, 2023, JKBOSE emphasized that from the academic session 2024-25, schools must implement its syllabi and materials for classes 1 to 12, prohibiting deviations or the use of external publishers’ content. Schools forcing parents or students to purchase unauthorised books will face action under regulatory norms, including SRO 123.
A dedicated panel of experts from higher and school education sectors oversees the development of these textbooks, ensuring academic rigor and compliance with national guidelines. To monitor adherence, JKBOSE, in collaboration with the School Education Department, will deploy special inspection teams across Jammu and Kashmir. Violations could lead to penalties under the Board of School Education norms.
This move reinforces JKBOSE’s commitment to an equitable education system, strengthening the academic foundation for students in the region.
