Awareness program on Girl Child empowerment held at Barnoti under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative

Kathua, December 18: The Child Development Project Office , Barnoti, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Kathua, organised a vibrant awareness program on gender equality and girl child empowerment at Government Higher Secondary School, Chandwan. The event was part of the flagship Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, aimed at fostering awareness and advocacy for the rights and education of the girl child.

A major highlight of the event was a captivating Nukkad Natak performed by the renowned theatre group Rangyug. Through powerful storytelling, the play conveyed critical messages about the importance of educating girls, eliminating gender discrimination, and ensuring equal opportunities for their growth and success.

Addressing the audience, CDPO Barnoti, Barsha Rani, underscored the significance of gender equality in creating a balanced society. “The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative is a call to action for communities to celebrate the girl child and prioritise her education. Innovative campaigns like today’s Nukkad Natak by Rangyug are instrumental in raising awareness and inspiring social change,” she said.

She also highlighted the role of integrated initiatives such as Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi, which focus on child nutrition alongside early education. “Holistic development of children, especially girls, remains at the core of our efforts. By addressing their nutritional and educational needs, we aim to nurture a healthier and more empowered generation,” she added.
