Baramulla, December 13: To assess the progress of Aadhaar saturation in the district and address challenges related to enrollment and updates, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, chaired a District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) meeting at the DC Office.
During the meeting, the DC emphasised the crucial role of Aadhaar as a key document for accessing various government services and benefits. He urged residents, especially those whose Aadhaar details have not been updated in over a decade, to update their demographic information, biometrics, and supporting documents. He specifically highlighted the importance of updating Aadhaar biometrics for children at the ages of 5 and 15 to keep their Aadhaar active.
Minga Sherpa directed all departments to collaborate more effectively and ramp up efforts to achieve 100% Aadhaar saturation in the district. Special focus was placed on updating Aadhaar records for students to align with school records, ensuring seamless application processes for national-level competitive exams.
The DC further instructed the concerned officials to enhance outreach programs and provide necessary resources to facilitate Aadhaar updates for residents. He stressed that having up-to-date Aadhaar details not only promotes ease of living but also enhances access to government services and ensures accurate authentication.
State Project Manager, UIDAI J&K, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the initiatives being undertaken to streamline Aadhaar enrollment and updates. He highlighted the organisation of special Aadhaar camps in collaboration with the district administration, as well as the establishment of enrollment facilities in hospitals to generate Aadhaar for newborns using verified birth certificates.
The meeting also discussed the use of QR code-verified birth certificates to prevent rejections during Aadhaar updates.
