DC Ganderbal reviews health department functioning, sets key targets for improvement

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 10 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, chaired a detailed review meeting at the DC Office to assess the performance of the Health Department in the district. The meeting, which aimed to evaluate key health indicators and the implementation of various health schemes, saw a comprehensive presentation by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ganderbal, Dr. B.A. Khan, who provided an in-depth overview of health data, including indicators under the National Health Mission (NHM).

During the review, the DC closely examined several critical health parameters, including the generation of ABHA IDs (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) and Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR), monitoring of District Public Health Laboratories (DIPHL), and hemoglobin (HB) testing for lactating and pregnant mothers. He also reviewed the enrollment of senior citizens aged 70 and above under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).

The DC underscored the need to achieve 100% generation of ABHA IDs and HPRs, which are vital for ensuring seamless healthcare delivery and efficient service access. He directed the concerned authorities to monitor the District Public Health Laboratories (DIPHL) and Common Collection Booths (CCB) continuously to ensure proper functioning and service delivery.

In addition, DC Shyambir emphasised the urgency of completing HB testing for lactating and pregnant mothers by the end of December and instructed strict measures to guarantee 100% enrollment of senior citizens aged 70 and above under PMJAY. These steps are crucial in improving healthcare access and ensuring that vulnerable populations are adequately supported.

The staffing situation across health institutions in the district was also discussed. The DC instructed the CMO to expedite the process of filling vacant positions, especially in critical areas, to ensure that all health facilities are fully operational and capable of meeting the growing healthcare needs of the district.

Reiterating the importance of strong implementation and monitoring, the DC highlighted the need for an integrated approach to strengthen the district’s health infrastructure and services. He emphasised that these efforts are essential to improving the overall health outcomes of the population.

The discussions underscored a collaborative effort to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure timely, effective services for the people of Ganderbal.
