BHADERWAH, December 5, 2024 – The Poshan Project Bhaderwah launched the first training session for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) under the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative . The program, a key initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, aims to integrate early childhood care, nutrition, and education to promote holistic child development in the region.
The training was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, in the presence of Paramjeet Singh, District Programme Officer (DPO).
The “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative focuses on a dual approach: ensuring optimal nutrition for children aged 3–6 years, while simultaneously fostering early literacy, cognitive skills, and life skills through age-appropriate activities at Anganwadi centers. This integrated framework seeks to create a solid foundation for children’s overall development, emphasizing both physical and cognitive growth.
A central theme of the training was empowering Anganwadi Workers with the tools and strategies to conduct engaging and effective educational activities. The session emphasised the importance of using the play-way method to make learning interactive, enjoyable, and impactful for young children. In addition, AWWs were trained to monitor children’s nutritional intake and developmental progress, ensuring that both aspects are aligned with the program’s broader goals.
Special attention was given to enhancing the capacity of Anganwadi Workers to act as agents of change within their communities. The training also addressed local challenges faced by AWWs in program implementation and encouraged them to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative.
The session concluded with a call to action, urging all stakeholders to actively promote awareness and participation at the grassroots level. By integrating nutrition and education in a comprehensive framework, “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” aims to create a lasting impact on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of children in Bhaderwah, setting a benchmark for similar initiatives across the country.
Through this initiative, the district is taking a significant step toward ensuring a healthier and brighter future for its children, as well as strengthening community participation in early childhood development.
