Jammu & Kashmir LG Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new building of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at the University of Jammu . In his address, he extended his congratulations to the Jammu University administration, teachers, and everyone involved in the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme. He emphasised that the new facility will significantly enhance the training and capacity-building of teachers, aiding in the development of innovative teaching methods. This initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy and aims to foster a dynamic and holistic approach to higher education. In the evolving landscape of higher education, building the capacity of faculty members is crucial,” the LG stated. He highlighted the importance of leadership skills and continuous professional development in achieving a holistic and multidisciplinary education integrated with Indian knowledge systems. The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, as noted by the LG, is designed to align with NEP 2020. Its objectives include realizing the full potential of individuals and ensuring that higher educational institutions contribute to nation-building and the creation of an equitable and just society. On this occasion, he paid tribute to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, acknowledging his significant contributions to India’s education system. He underscored that the mission’s focus is on implementing NEP recommendations, enhancing quality teaching, promoting equity, integrating online education, leveraging technology, supporting Indian language promotion, vocational education, and multidisciplinary approaches. Dedicated to the ideals of Mahamana, the mission seeks to transform higher education by incorporating Indian values and ethos into teaching, research, publications, patents, and institutional development. He urged higher educational institutions to strive for improved quality in education, emphasising the importance of excellence in teaching methods and continuous professional development for teachers. He also praised the University of Jammu for its innovative educational programmes and its focus on critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. He noted the university’s dedication to Lifelong Learning and the 21st Century Skills Framework, in accordance with NEP 2020 recommendations.
