Budgam, July 25,2026- In a major crackdown on narcotics, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 87 drug peddlers in Budgam district during the recently concluded 100-day anti-drug campaign, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to creating a drug-free society.
The sustained drive targeted individuals involved in the illegal drug trade through intensified surveillance, intelligence-based operations, and coordinated enforcement across the district. Police also registered multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and seized significant quantities of narcotic substances during the campaign.
The initiative forms part of the broader Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks, preventing substance abuse among youth, and raising public awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics. Alongside enforcement measures, awareness programmes were organised in schools, colleges, and local communities to encourage citizens to actively support the fight against drug abuse.
Officials reiterated that strict action against drug peddlers will continue and urged the public to share information about narcotics-related activities. The police also appealed to parents, educational institutions, and community leaders to work together in protecting young people from the menace of drugs.
The successful completion of the 100-day campaign in Budgam reflects the administration’s continued focus on strengthening law enforcement and promoting a healthier, safer, and drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
