BUDGAM, AUGUST 15: The 78th Independence Day was celebrated today with gaiety and zeal at Government Degree College (GDC) Khansahib.
Dr. Nargis Bano, Principal GDC Khansahib, hoisted the national flag during college celebrations. In her address, she highlighted the role of unsung heroes of the Indian Freedom struggle. She also dwelt on the menace of drug abuse & the imperatives of combating it at all levels.
Urging the students to refrain from drugs she said, “Kashmiri society is beset with many challenges. Drug addiction has emerged as a major disruption to our march towards a healthy and vibrant society. So, our students must refrain from all negative influences and become active agents of change at grassroots level.”
Dr. Nargis also congratulated a 6th semester student, Tabiyan Gul, who secured 1st position at inter-college district level ‘Essay Writing’ competition on 12th August.
A vibrant cultural program was organised by the college cultural committee, wherein, students’ participation was highly appreciated. They were provided ‘Certificates of Participation’ by the Principal.
All faculty members, non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers & other students participated in these celebrations.
