I am happy to say that we can dedicate the flats to the Kashmiri Migrant Employees who have been waiting for this for long, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. Constructed under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP), around 576 flats were inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor on April 26, 2023 in the presence of Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta. The Lieutenant Governor thanked the R&D engineers and developers for keeping their promise. By December 2000 more flats should be ready, said the LG. And hopefully we will meet the target set for 2024, said the Lieutenant Governor. It was a real hardship for those who were outcast from here. Naturally to understand their suffering we need to feel the pain, the LG said. The act was delayed but the intention I think has always been the same to get your work done on a priority basis, LG assured. LG Saheb is a man of action. What he says he does, said people in Kashmir. Our demand was for a secured and sufficient accommodation. We got the same in Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Shopian. Whatever problems people have they should be solved. J&K LG has taken personal interest in it and we are grateful, migrant workers said. This is a good step which will make our children settle down here, said members of migrants. The accommodation which was promised to us with the package is being fulfilled to a great extent and we are thankful to the DC and the administration for this, said migrant workers in Kashmir.
