Srinagar, July 22,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the ground situation in districts affected by heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, directing all concerned agencies to intensify rescue and relief operations in vulnerable areas.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke with senior officials to assess the evolving situation and reviewed the ongoing relief efforts being carried out by district administrations, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and various line departments, including Health, Public Works Department (PWD), and Jal Shakti.
Sharing an update on X, Manoj Sinha said he had directed all departments to strengthen rescue operations and ensure a coordinated response in flood and landslide-affected districts. He noted that joint rescue operations are continuing in Poonch and Rajouri, while more than 400 damaged roads in the Jammu Division have already been restored, significantly improving connectivity in affected areas.
The Lieutenant Governor also instructed officials to strategically position manpower and heavy machinery near vulnerable locations to ensure immediate response in case of emergencies. He further directed authorities to issue timely weather advisories and discourage unnecessary travel to high-risk areas until conditions improve.
Expressing concern over the tragic shooting stones incident in Ramban district, in which two people lost their lives, the Lieutenant Governor said he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner Ramban regarding the incident. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
Manoj Sinha directed the district administration to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical treatment and to extend all necessary assistance and support to the affected families during this difficult time.
The administration continues to monitor the weather situation closely, with all emergency response agencies remaining on high alert to safeguard lives and restore essential services across Jammu and Kashmir.
