Poonch, November 16,2025: The Ghari Battalion of the Indian Army’s Poonch Brigade continued the Poonch Link-Up Day celebrations with a vibrant Talent Hunt programme themed around ‘Operation Sindoor’, marking the 77th anniversary of the historic 1948 link-up that ended the 15-month siege of Poonch.
Students from various schools participated with patriotic performances, cultural showcases, and dramatic depictions inspired by the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army.
A student emotionally expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the entire Indian Army for the opportunity to depict ‘Operation Sindoor.’ We celebrate Link-Up Day every year on November 22, but this time, the theme is dedicated to Operation Sindoor. I also want to mention three students from my school — Vihaan, Urva, and Zain — who were martyred during this operation. We will remember them always.”
Another participant, Sofia, highlighted the historical importance of the occasion:
“Today, we have gathered here to take part in the talent hunt program organised on the occasion of Link-Up Day. Children from many schools have come to participate. Link-Up Day is very significant because it marks the day when our Poonch connected with Jammu and Kashmir and gained independence from Pakistan.”
Student Insha Wajid also shared her experience, saying, “We have been rehearsing for Link-Up Day for many days now. The talent hunt show was organised, and everyone participated enthusiastically. Every school gave their best. We celebrated on 22nd November because on this day, our Poonch gained independence. I thank the Indian Army for giving us this opportunity to showcase our talent.”
The Indian Army aims to use such events to strengthen youth engagement, instill national pride, and preserve the region’s rich historical legacy. The celebrations will continue with more cultural and commemorative events in the coming days.
