Srinagar, August 12, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Tiranga Yatra from the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar, leading a vibrant walkathon to the Botanical Garden. The event, part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, saw thousands of participants from diverse backgrounds unite to honor the National Flag, a symbol of India’s unity, pride, and shared identity.“Tiranga is my Dharma. Tiranga is my strength. Tiranga is my heartbeat,” declared LG Sinha, emphasizing the profound connection between the tricolor and the nation’s spirit. He expressed his devotion to the country, quoting, “कर्म हेतु इस धर्म भूमि पर लें फिर फिर हम जन्म सहर्ष – For the sake of duty, may we again and again take birth on this holy land.
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!”The LG paid heartfelt tributes to the freedom fighters and brave hearts of the Army, CAPFs, and J&K Police, whose sacrifices have kept the tricolor flying high. He urged citizens to reflect on their duties while celebrating the nation’s achievements and to build a modern and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir on the foundation of these sacrifices.Highlighting the transformative progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, LG Sinha noted that Jammu & Kashmir has entered a new era of inclusive development. “With renewed self-confidence, the people of J&K are writing their own destiny, realizing the unfulfilled dreams of generations,” he said, emphasizing the region’s march toward a peaceful and prosperous future.
The Tiranga Yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth, Nari Shakti, public representatives, NCC cadets, and officials from the Culture Department, Education Department, J&K Police, and security forces. LG Sinha lauded their contributions to the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, which has ignited a wave of patriotism across the Union Territory. “From the banks of the Jhelum to the Chenab, and from the peaks of Pir Panjal to Harmukh, the echo of Bharat Mata Ki Jai resonates,” he said.
The LG highlighted the impact of events like the Tiranga Mela, Tiranga Concerts, and Tiranga Bike Rallies, which have celebrated India’s freedom fighters and spread messages of peace and national unity. The Weaves & Threads Activity in schools, colleges, and neighborhoods has further inspired a sense of purpose among the youth.LG Sinha called for continued participation in the third phase of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, starting August 13, describing it as a campaign embodying the dreams and aspirations of the youth and a pledge to make Jammu & Kashmir a leader in every field.
“The tricolor will fly high on government buildings and homes across J&K, celebrating our ideals and unity,” he said.During the event, the LG felicitated Kargil War Heroes and released a Monograph honoring the martyrs of Jammu & Kashmir. A Tiranga Concert paid tribute to the nation’s heroes, rekindling the spirit of the Indian freedom movement.The event was attended by Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah, Ministers Ms Sakeena Itoo, Shri Javed Ahmed Rana, and Shri Javid Ahmad Dar, Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Shri Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Culture Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, senior officials, and residents of Srinagar.
