Srinagar, August 12, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led a vibrant Tiranga Yatra around Dal Lake in Srinagar on Tuesday, emphasizing the national flag as a symbol of unity and pride. Addressing the gathering, CM Omar declared, “The Tricolour is our identity. We must uphold its honour by remembering the sacrifices of those who fought for it.” The event, part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, saw enthusiastic participation from hundreds of residents, alongside Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, public representatives, and officials.CM Omar reflected on the historical struggle to hoist the Tricolor freely, recalling a time when only government buildings could display it. He shared the story of a citizen who fought a legal battle to secure this right for all, stating, “Those who sacrificed for the Tricolour never thought, ‘What can I do alone?’ They believed, ‘I alone am enough.’”
He urged citizens to maintain the flag’s dignity beyond ceremonial events, reinforcing its role as a unifying force across the nation.The Yatra, flagged off by LG Sinha from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden, highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s transformation post the 2019 abrogation of Article 370. The event also featured the Panch Pran pledge, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to strengthen the resolve for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The rally concluded with a monograph release honoring J&K’s martyrs and a Tiranga signature campaign, deepening the emotional connect with the national flag.
