Srinagar, July 20, 2025: In a powerful address in Srinagar, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s resolute commitment to rooting out terrorism and fostering enduring peace in the Union Territory. “Our goal is clear: we are not here to buy peace but to establish it firmly by dismantling the entire terror network,” Sinha declared, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and its support systems.
Speaking at a public event, Sinha underscored the critical role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in targeting the financial, logistical, and ideological frameworks that sustain terrorism. “It’s not enough to eliminate the terrorist; we must destroy the ecosystem that enables them,” he said. He criticized past policies that rewarded terror sympathizers with government jobs while ignoring victims, assuring that “no innocent will face injustice, but no guilty party will escape accountability.”
LG Manoj Sinha highlighted transformative changes in the region, dubbing it “Naya Jammu and Kashmir.” He noted a shift from a culture of unrest to one of progress, with youth now embracing education and entrepreneurship over violence. “Stones have been replaced by laptops, and the silence of hartals has given way to the hum of factories and startups,” he said, citing uninterrupted academic sessions, flourishing tourism, and vibrant cultural events like Muharram processions and Eid celebrations.
The Lieutenant Governor addressed the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. Labeling it a Pakistan-orchestrated attempt to derail J&K’s economic growth, Sinha revealed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has identified the culprits. “They will face the same fate as other terror commanders,” he vowed, referencing Operation Sindoor, a cross-border operation targeting terror camps.
LG Manoj Sinha also emphasised efforts to support terror victims, pointing to the recent distribution of appointment letters to 40 affected families in Baramulla. “We are committed to healing the wounds of those who suffered due to decades of violence,” he said, aligning the administration’s efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.
Urging citizens to collaborate with security forces, Sinha envisioned a terror-free J&K defined by justice, opportunity, and hope. “Peace is not just the absence of violence; it’s the presence of prosperity and unity,” he said. The region has seen remarkable progress, with doubled economic growth, a surge in tourism, and a significant decline in local terrorist recruitment, marking a new chapter in J&K’s journey.
