Jammu, July 29,2026- A fresh batch of 2,051 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu early Wednesday to undertake the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 via the Baltal route in Jammu and Kashmir. The 22nd batch left amid tight security arrangements for the holy cave shrine.
The convoy started its journey at around 2:45 AM with pilgrims travelling in 82 vehicles, including buses, medium motor vehicles, light motor vehicles, and a two-wheeler. The batch comprised 1,570 male pilgrims, 369 female pilgrims, two children, 58 sadhus, 21 sadhvis, one sadhu child, and 30 foreign nationals.
Officials said all pilgrims in the latest batch are proceeding towards the Baltal base camp, while no convoy was scheduled on the Pahalgam route. The movement of pilgrims is being carried out under comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience.
With the departure of this batch, the total number of pilgrims who have left the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath cave shrine during this year’s pilgrimage has reached 1,32,406, officials said.
The Shri Amarnath Yatra, one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, resumed recently after a weather-related suspension. Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions, road connectivity, and security arrangements along the pilgrimage routes to facilitate devotees.
The annual pilgrimage attracts lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, who undertake the challenging Himalayan journey to seek blessings at the naturally formed ice Shivling at the Amarnath Cave Shrine in south Kashmir.
