186 Gold Medals to Girls: A New India Moment at Kashmir University Convocation, Says LG Manoj Sinha We were all waiting for a long time for the Vice President of India to attend the 21st Convocation of the University of Kashmir, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha addressing the 21st Convocation of the University of Kashmir. There are certain milestones in the life of any higher education system that are not just a count of years but become a saga of change, LG spoke. The 21st convocation of the University of Kashmir is not just a sign of the passage of time but also a powerful proof of the fulfillment of the generational resolve for transformation and the immense faith of the people in modern education. I would like to specially congratulate the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nilofer Khan and her team from the bottom of my heart, under whose leadership this University has achieved many achievements. I also heartily welcome all the dedicated faculty members who are shaping young minds and lighting the lamp of knowledge alive every day. I would also like to extend my heartfelt greetings to all the students who have spent most of their time on this campus, soaking in knowledge, wisdom, and innovation, added LG. I am very happy that out of 249 gold medals, maximum 186 gold medals are in the name of our girls. There can be no more powerful statement of ‘New India’ than this, said LG. Out of 164 PhDs, 108 are in the names of our girls. This is not a simple figure but a clear message. This figure sends a message to the public that when girls are given the opportunity, encouragement and freedom to compete on the field of equality, they not only participate but they lead. Kashmir University is fulfilling these dreams that were seen by many generations. Their dreams have not only come true but are moving beyond that, LG said. Kashmir University today has such an identity whose graduates are competing at the national and international level, contributing to diverse sectors of the economy and also contributing to the advancement of the rich intellectual heritage of the land of Jammu and Kashmir. Today, artificial intelligence is affecting every field. Be it healthcare, agriculture, finance, urban planning or governance, the impact of artificial intelligence is clearly visible in every sector. Therefore, the question today is whether technology will become a means of human welfare or will it become only a tool for earning profit. I believe that the answer to this question will be found in the university campus itself, where along with knowledge, the values of life and the moral compass are developed. Speaking about the rankings of University of Kashmir LG spoke it has achieved A++ grade in the NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council) grading for Academic Excellence and Institutional Quality. Kashmir University secured 34th rank in the ranking category of NRI (Network Readiness Index). And by securing the 8th position in the ranking of state public universities in the entire country, Kashmir University has made its place among the top ten prestigious universities of the country. The Lieutenant Governor told all the students that education is not a privilege but the most powerful instrument of change that has been entrusted to the hands of man. Education changes the course of life; education changes the course of families. Education in the hands of youth should be fully utilized to rewrite the future of India. This convocation is just the end of a journey. Your real work begins today and I can say that your real test is about to come, LG added. You are not just a graduate, you are the inheritor of a huge responsibility. The University of Kashmir has invested a lot in your education in the country through its infrastructure, the hard work and sacrifice of its faculty members. We hope that you will make the best use of it in nation building, stated the J&K Lieutenant Governor motivating the students.
