Shopian, October 28,2025: In a major push toward boosting the agriculture sector in south Kashmir, the District Administration Shopian has approved 165 cases under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme and the Jammu and Kashmir Credit Incentive Programme . The initiative aims to enhance farm productivity, promote sustainable practices, and strengthen rural livelihoods across the district.
According to officials from the Department of Agriculture, Shopian, the approved cases cover multiple components, including high-density plantation, integrated dairy and poultry units, protected cultivation, and farm mechanisation. The projects are designed to empower local farmers through modern technology, financial assistance, and skill-based interventions.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian emphasised that the schemes under HADP and JKCIP will significantly contribute to the district’s agro-economy by improving productivity, market access, and value addition. He also highlighted the importance of coordination between line departments to ensure timely implementation and benefits reaching genuine beneficiaries.
Experts believe that these initiatives will play a vital role in transforming Shopian into a model agri-economy hub of Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with the UT government’s vision of sustainable agricultural growth and farmers’ empowerment.
