Baramulla district took a significant step towards eliminating tuberculosis (TB) with the launch of the ‘100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,’ aligning with India’s national goal of achieving a TB-free status by 2025. The event saw strong participation from public representatives, healthcare professionals, and district officials, all united in their commitment to a TB-free future for both Baramulla and the nation. MLA Javed Ahmad Beigh emphasised the importance of collective action in combating TB, calling for the involvement of healthcare professionals, community leaders, and the general public to make Baramulla a model district for TB elimination. “The fight against tuberculosis requires not just medical intervention but also community involvement,” Beigh stated. MLA Sajad Shafi of Uri stressed the need for education and awareness about early detection and treatment completion to break the transmission cycle of TB. MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah lauded the efforts of GMC Baramulla, which plays a vital role in diagnosing and managing TB cases in the region. He further underscored the importance of ensuring that patients complete their prescribed treatment for effective disease management. A key part of the event was the recognition of TB survivors and healthcare workers for their remarkable contributions to the fight against tuberculosis. Their resilience was celebrated as an example of hope and determination. In alignment with the campaign’s objectives, a book was launched during the event emphasising early detection, a healthy diet, special care for high-risk groups, and the importance of completing treatment. A mobile diagnostic unit, equipped with advanced tools, was also flagged off to reach remote areas, ensuring free and accurate TB testing for underserved communities. The launch of this initiative marks a pivotal moment in Baramulla’s fight against tuberculosis and sets an example for others in tackling public health challenges. With concerted efforts and collaboration, Baramulla is on track to become a TB-free district, contributing to India’s goal of a TB-free nation by 2025. Through education, early detection, and comprehensive treatment, the district is paving the way for a healthier, TB-free future.
