Kashmir, February 20,2026- The Government has released ₹1,684 crore for land acquisition related to the Jammu and Kashmir Ring Road project, marking a major step toward accelerating key infrastructure development in the Union Territory.
According to official sources, the funds have been provided to ensure timely compensation to landowners and to remove bottlenecks that were delaying the execution of the strategic road project. The Ring Road is aimed at decongesting urban traffic, improving connectivity, and facilitating smoother movement of goods and passengers around major cities.
The project, covering critical stretches around Jammu and Srinagar, is expected to significantly reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and support economic growth by improving access to markets and industrial areas. Authorities said that most land acquisition-related issues are being resolved in coordination with district administrations.
Officials reiterated that adequate compensation, transparency, and rehabilitation measures are being ensured for affected landowners. The release of funds is expected to speed up construction work and bring the project closer to completion.
Once operational, the Ring Road will play a vital role in strengthening transport infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, boosting tourism, trade, and overall regional development.
